Our Story
Some love stories begin with a grand gesture.
Ours began with crossed paths.
Long before either of us knew what the future had in store, Karl and Uziel had already been appearing in the same chapters of life. From MTAP competitions and Area Meets to Speechfests throughout elementary and high school, our paths crossed more times than we could count—always in passing, never quite at the right moment.
Yet somewhere between those first impressions and the years that followed, something changed.
What began as familiar faces in crowded rooms slowly turned into friendship, and eventually into something deeper. We discovered a shared love for stories—through anime, Korean dramas, K-pop, Marvel films, and sci-fi worlds that kept our conversations going long after the credits rolled.
Some of our favorite memories were never the grandest ones. They were found in the quiet moments in between, in simply being together.
Years later, fate placed us on the same campus once again.
She remembers seeing him during the college entrance examinations wearing a red checkered polo, confidently submitting his exam paper ahead of her and some other students. Watching from across the room, she immediately formed an opinion: “Another bida-bida.” After all, she was the type who squeezed every second out of an exam, while he seemed perfectly content finishing early.
The universe, however, had other plans.
One afternoon, she was quietly reading on a bench in the college plaza when he tried to get her attention by tossing her pebbles. She caught him immediately—and her first impression remained unchanged.
“What a dumbass,” she thought.
Not exactly the beginning of a fairytale.
In November 2013, we found ourselves seated in the same classroom as college classmates. Yet despite the years of near encounters, our first real interaction would take a little longer.
Our story was never perfect. Over the years, we experienced misunderstandings, disappointments, and moments that tested our patience and love. We grew together through adulthood, learning to love not only the best parts of each other, but also the imperfect ones. Through every season, we found our way back.
At the heart of our relationship was never perfection—it was friendship, laughter, and the quiet certainty of choosing each other. As the years passed, life changed. We changed. Our dreams and responsibilities evolved, but one thing remained constant: we chose each other.
Looking back, it’s impossible not to smile at all the times we almost met, all the years we unknowingly shared the same spaces, and all the moments that eventually brought us together at exactly the right time.
Some call it coincidence. We call it perfect timing.
Now, 11 years later, we begin a new chapter—not because our story has been flawless, but because it has been real.
Built on friendship, strengthened by time, tested by challenges, and sustained by a love that kept choosing one another.
